The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope is accepting applications for a Full-time Speech Instructor for the 2012-2013 academic year beginning August 2012.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in communications is required.  Two-year college teaching experience is preferred. 
  • Preferred consideration will be given to applicants who have experience in and are interested in directing student theatrical productions.
  • Preferred consideration will be given to applicants who have experience in and are interested in teaching on-line and/or compressed interactive video (CIV) classes. 

Duties:

  • Teach college level speech classes.Serve as an academic advisor.
  • Work closely with faculty, dean, tutoring staff, student support staff, and other College personnel to promote student success.
  • Serve on department and university committees.
  • Participate in professional development.
  • Night and weekend duties may be required.

POSITION: Executive Assistant to the President

STARTING DATE:  February 20, 2012

JOB DUTIES:  Under direct supervision, the Executive Assistant to the President is responsible for the management of the Office of the President and for the administrative support of College-wide functions, projects and activities.  The Executive Assistant provides all administrative and clerical support to the President and Board of Trustees and provides assistance to internal and external constituents regarding college operations, policies and processes.  This position frequently and independently interfaces with high-level internal and external contacts and often serves as a liaison for the College President.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the President’s schedule including interviews, meetings, appointments, travel and community presentations.
  • Develops and implements office procedures, and provides general supervision of the work of administrative support staff by prioritizing work assignments, establishing deadlines, and reviewing the work performed.
  • Provides communication assistance for the President’s office; prepares, compiles, composes, proofreads, and edits correspondence and reports.  Independently develops presentations and briefings for the President.  Maintains a variety of college related information; databases, committee lists, organizational charts, web pages.
  • Provides meeting assistance; prepares agendas and minutes, gathers materials, arranges meeting location and catering, sends notifications, etc. 
  • Arranges all details for Board of Trustee meetings including room set up, collecting, reviewing and distributing documents and agenda items, posting documents on website, taking and posting minutes, maintaining all official records of Board actions.  Serves as liaison to the Board for the College community. 
  • Conducts research and prepares statistical and financial reports for the President, Board members of other College leaders.
  • Provides office management and administrative services for the Office of the President and the Board of Trustees to include phone calls, mail and visitors, document maintenance, and budget tracking.  Prepares and updates administrative policies and processes for the College.
  • Coordinates office activities with directors and other professional staff, monitors office activities and work flow.
  • Plans and coordinates special events and projects; College, community, special projects, programs, meetings, retirement receptions, and various other events throughout the year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.  Ability to effectively supervise administrative support staff.
  • Knowledge of the operation of a professional services office, administrative and office management.
  • Sense of urgency to task completion. 
  • Demonstrated high level of organization, detail and commitment in work.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and policy/procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. 
  • Ability to prepare financial and statistical reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:     

Required Education and Experience:  Associates Degree, and 3+ years office/administrative experience.  Advanced knowledge and experience with database, word processing/Word, Presentation/Powerpoint, spreadsheet/Excel.  Basic knowledge in accounting and data entry.

Preferred Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years experience in a professional office.

Position Specific:

The Ozarka College PACE Project Coordinator and Grant Writer will:

  • Establish a timeline and key progress milestones for successfully implementing the college’s participation in the grant.
  • Organize and coordinate institution-based teams of faculty and staff to redesign programs, course curricula, and student services, and hold teams accountable for meeting key progress milestones and grant deliverables.
  • Ensure employer engagement in program and curriculum redesign processes.
  • Coordinate all grant related reporting to AATYC and NWACC.
  • Ensure all grant related expenses are in accordance with approved budget and grant deliverables.
  • Coordinate the college’s participation in all state-wide technical assistance and regional coaching trainings.
  • Serve on the PACE grant Steering Committee, which will serve to advise the overall grant management team, and attending committee meetings.
  • Direct and plan all grant writing for the college which includes working with a team, gathering data, administering surveys, coordinating external partnerships, writing, editing and submitting completed grant applications for funding.
  • Research and identify potential grant sources, which include contacting federal, state and local agencies, companies and foundations to pursue grant funds as well as conducting Internet and other searches. 
  • Implement fiscal procedures consistent with regulations and grant programs.
  • Ensure college grant funds are tracked by grant expenditures and timelines in coordination with grant managers in other College Depts.
  • Serve as the college’s liaison to all grant funding agencies. 
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate long-range and annual grant funding plans that align with the College’s strategic vision and plan. Identifies college projects for which funding is desired, development of strategies to obtain funding and timelines for project funding. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree and three (3) years experience in successful grant writing and project/grant management preferred. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in higher education preferred.

This is a full-time position with full college benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and prior experience developing and managing a successful college recruiting plan, preferably for a community college.  Must have excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, competency in Microsoft applications, and the ability to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision. Must have experience training recruiters to execute the plan. Preference will be given to candidates with experience recruiting in the Memphis, Tenn., market.

Responsibilities:  Reports to the VP for Student Affairs with responsibility for working with other outreach departments, the Marketing Department, and the Admissions Department to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan for attracting both traditional and non-traditional students that will promote enrollment growth. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing a coherent recruiting plan that meets the enrollment objectives of the college
  • Selecting and training faculty and students to assist with recruiting activities and training them to represent the college effectively
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of recruiting staff
  • Developing a work plan with measurable milestones to assess outcomes on both a formative and summative basis
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with other departments to ensure recruiting addresses their needs and that there is effective coordination between recruiting, marketing, admissions, academic programs, and other outreach programs.
  • Processing prospective student requests for information in a timely manner
  • Maintaining files on prospective students and completing monthly activity reports
  • Serving as the primary campus tour guide for various campus constituencies
  • Participating in recruiting events/activities

Non-Destructive Testing Instructor

Mid-South Community College
This is a 12-month, grant-funded position

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s or associate’s degree, preferably in an aviation, industrial science, manufacturing or business field. The ideal candidate must have Level II qualification in the methods of Radiographic Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Visual Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing, and six (6) months experience teaching industry classes. Other candidates with exceptional experience and credentials will be considered if they are willing to commit to an approved plan for meeting our degree requirements. Successful candidates must be able to create effective active learning environments so that, upon completion of the program, students will have successfully developed the knowledge and skills required in our FAA-approved curriculum to qualify to perform tests as a level II tester and meet requirements required for ANST Certification. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to communicate professionally in both oral and written formats. The qualified applicant must demonstrate flexibility, exhibit initiative, work closely with all MSCC staff and students, and participate in college and community activities.

Responsibilities: The Non-Destructive Testing Instructor reports to the Program Coordinator for Workforce Technology with responsibility for the following: 

  • developing curriculum and assessment strategies
  • modeling appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics,
  • maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas
  • maintaining accurate FAA student records
  • providing quality instruction by creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes active learning, inquiry, and problem solving
  • ensuring students adhere to safety standards
  • assisting in information gathering for grant reporting purposes
  • recruiting
  • working with a program advisory committee
  • advising students about academic requirements/options
  • serving on college committees and
  • performing other duties as assigned.

A forty-hour work week is the minimum required for this position with some evening hours required.
