NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Franklin named chair of National Council of State Directors of Community Colleges LITTLE ROCK - Dr. Ed Franklin has been named chair of the National Council of State Directors of Community Colleges (NCSDCC). The council is an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and provides a forum for the exchange of information about developments, trends and problems in state systems of community colleges. Through its affiliation with AACC, the council strives to affect national legislation that impacts its colleges and state agencies. Dr. Franklin is currently executive director of the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges (AATYC). AATYC is a private, non-profit higher education membership organization serving the educational needs of two-year college students and the business/industry needs of the state. AATYC represents all 22 public two-year colleges in Arkansas. The association facilitates the sharing of ideas, resources and opportunities among its members and advocates on behalf of members’ students. Under the leadership of Dr. Franklin, AATYC has collaborated with two-year colleges to develop regional and sector consortia as well as implement student success initiatives. More than 62,000 Arkansans are currently enrolled in AATYC member colleges. Approximately half are ages 25 and older, and many attend classes part-time while also managing work and family responsibilities.
