College offering classes to teach medical and IT staffLITTLE ROCK---(KTHV) Government mandates will require all healthcare providers to implement electronic health records by 2015. Government mandates will require all health care providers to implement electronic health records by 2015. National Park Community College in Hot Springs is offering online classes, to help train those in the IT community and medical field. NPCC Student Support Coordinator Leigh Turner says "As a consumer, you normally have several different physicians that you see and normally they have to get a hardcopy of your records. With this, they would all talk to each other and your electronic health record is submitted almost immediately." Turner says it should expedite treatment for the patient tremendously. If you're interested, registration for the course has been extended until January 21. The classes are 6months long and cost $500. Tuition reimbursement is possible, upon successful completion. Turner says, "We are offering 3 different workforce roles that will train people how to redesign a workflow for a physician's office. We have a clinician workflow trainer, as well as, an I.T. portion and healthcare portion." That includes training for the clinician/practitioner consultant.
