New HealthIT Workforce Training Program

By 2015 everyone will be required to have Electronic Health Records (EHR). The work required to reach this goal is expected to create a high demand in several types of Health Information Technology (IT) professions. The EHR project will provide quality and efficiency, while maintaining privacy and security of medical information.

NPCC has implemented a completely online, non-degree certificate program designed for those with a medical or IT background and is designed to be completed in six months or less for full time students.

The Health IT program will provide a pool of qualified workers with both medical and IT skills to aid in the transitional process to electronic health records. Upon completion of the chosen health care tract the student will receive a partial/full stipend for tuition reimbursement, until stipends are expended, and will be eligible to sit for the national EHR competency exam.

NPCC is currently offering training in the following health care tracts:

  • Trainer:  This tract is aids in the design and delivery of training programs, using adult learning principles, to employees in the clinical and public health settings.
  •  Practice Workflow and Information Management Redesign Specialist:  This tract assists in reorganizing workflow and operations to take full advantage of health information technology in pursuit of “meaningful use” and to improve general health and quality of care.
  • Clinician/Practitioner Consultant:  This tract is similar to the “Practice workflow and Information Management Redesign Specialist”, while utilizing the background and experience of a licensed clinical professional.

This program is scheduled to start September 30, 2010
