Heath Waldrop The college applied for the grant, dubbed South Arkansas Healthcare Opportunities, in the fall. Only one other institution in Arkansas and 55 nationwide received such a grant among the more than 1,400 applicants. The grant will be used in part to fund additional instructors, equipment in the campus’ new Health Science Center and new programs such as medical laboratory technology. The goal is to strengthen and broaden SouthArk’s ability to educate and train new medical personnel in and around south Arkansas, a move designed to benefit the entire region, according to dean George Roberts of the health and natural sciences department. |
