Willie Buck, UACCH Dean of Business Technology, Named Educator of the Year

HOPE, AR – The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope is pleased to announce that Willie Buck was named the 2010 Educator of the Year during last night’s Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Banquet.  Mr. Buck has taught 35 years at UACCH and currently serves as the Dean of Business Technology.  Mr. Buck is retiring after the 2009 – 2010 academic year here at the College.

So many of the Red River / UACCH Alumni remember Mr. Buck and a class they had under his instruction.  Buck is very dedicated to helping his students succeed.  During his years as an educator Mr. Buck has seen many changes in technology.  Classroom equipment has evolved from manual typewriters to online classes, computer based grade books, and smart phones that can do more than was ever imaged at the beginning of his career in the Business Technology.

Jennifer Methvin, Vice Chancellor for Academics at UACCH said, “After 35 years, I don’t think we can possibly count the number of lives Mr. Buck has positively influenced. But we can celebrate them. I think it is most fitting that Willie Buck is the 2010 Educator of the Year.”

Mr. Buck is also active in other areas in the community as he serves in his church and various other activities throughout the community.  Help us thank Mr. Buck for his 35 years of service to Hope and help him celebrate his upcoming retirement with the recognition of the 2010 Educator of the Year.  For more information about this or other activities at UACCH, visit our website at www.uacch.edu.
