  • Total Students = 59,582 (including 7,280 high school students)
  • 1-Year Growth = 9.8%; 5-Year Growth = 26.5%
  • In 2009, five Arkansas two-year colleges were named among the “Fastest-Growing Public Two-Year Colleges” in the country by Community College Week.   
  • Public two-year colleges serve 40% of Arkansas undergraduate students and high school students enrolled in college level coursework.
  • An additional 50,000 Arkansans are upgrading skills at public two-year colleges via noncredit courses directly related to business/industry needs.

The Arkansas Career Pathways Initiative works in conjunction with the Departments of Higher Education and Workforce Services to provide career training and education to qualifying adults with dependent children.  Career Pathways staff can provide counseling and tutoring to help you get enrolled, choose classes, and get you and your family on the road to a better life.  All 22 two-year colleges have Career Pathways programs.

A college education is more accessible than ever.  Most two-year college campuses offer evening and weekend classes, as well as distance education classes that you can access from your home computer.

Arkansas two-year colleges offer hundreds of program options, including health care, advanced manufacturing, information technology, aerospace technology, and energy technology.  You could earn a certificate within one year, which may also apply towards an associate or baccalaureate degree.

Transferring credits earned at a two-year college to a four-year university in Arkansas is easier than ever.  Learn the facts:

The Arkansas Course Transfer System ensures that Arkansas public college students are guaranteed the transfer of certain credits within the Arkansas public higher education system.

The Roger Phillips Transfer Act of 2009 guarantees that Arkansas two-year college students who complete certain transfer degrees (Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts in Teaching) have the right to transfer freshman and sophomore level course credits to any public four-year institution in Arkansas.

Four-year public institutions of higher education are required to:

  • Accept all hours completed and credits earned upon a student’s transfer to a baccalaureate degree program.
  • Admit a transfer student to junior status in a baccalaureate degree program.
